The Path to Gaining Spiritual Awareness

Green maze

First of all, thank you all so much for supporting my publication on Elephant Journal. The piece set a new high for me for how many views it received and I very much appreciate all of you who gave it a click or a share!!!

As an addendum to that, I can’t stop thinking about the quote from The Bhagavad Gita which I’d like to expand on:

“On the path effort never goes to waste, and there is no failure. Even a little effort toward spiritual awareness will protect you from the greatest fear.”

When something in our life goes awry such as we hit an obstacle, or a delay, in reaching a goal or achieving an intention; sometimes we can assume we’ve wasted our time. My catch-phrase is, “What was I thinking? This was not a good idea.” And normally I conclude I wasn’t thinking clearly at all. I went the wrong way, didn’t see certain signs. I scold myself for being an idealistic dreamer who believes anything is possible.

But that’s not true, for any of us.

Our greatest fears are usually rooted in our ideas of what we think success should look like. When we face: rejection, lack of growth, injury, an inability to emotionally connect or communicate, or we don’t get what we think we deserve; we can become fearful of making another attempt at trying.

There is no effort that’s wasted in expanding our awareness. Whatever ends up happening is what’s supposed to be revealed at that time (which we cannot worry about or try to control).

We walk through a labyrinth every day. It’s our path to building levels of consciousness. Sometimes we may find a garden of treasures or stumble upon nothing but a dead end. All of this adds to our chamber of self-knowledge in how we react to what we receive and how we move forward.

If we regard the effort with reverence then there is nothing to fear…
